Until today, I didn’t realize how many artists Angie Stone had collaborated with. I’ve purchased every album she’s released since 1999s Black Diamond, yet I somehow forget her epic duets. To you, Angie Stone is just another neo-soul artist but to me Angie is the epitome of what artists should aspire to be. Currently, you can catch her on R&B Divas as one the new cast members and the voice of reason and with good reason. Angie can teach all of us a thing or two about longevity.
Her music career began in the late 70s when she was known as Angie B. She then went on to sing with the 90s R&B trio Vertical Hold. But many of you are more familiar with her songs, No More Rain, Brotha and Baby. Every album she releases has an amazing duet with some equally amazing artists. There aren’t many folks who can collaborate with R&B crooners like Joe, Anthony Hamilton and Calvin Richardson and then turn around and make great music with legends like Betty Wright and James Ingram. Now that’s what I call impressive.
Today I’m digging in the crates and jamming to some of my favorite Angie Stone duets. If you like good music, then you should join me.
